A Guildford care home has been recognised at the prestigious National Care Home Awards 2025.

Claremont Court Care Home, in Harts Gardens, which caters exclusively for people living with advanced and complex dementia, won in the Best Specialist Care category.

The award celebrates the home’s outstanding commitment to specialist dementia care and its holistic, compassionate approach, dedicated to enriching the lives of residents at the home, which has 57 ensuite bedrooms and offers residential, nursing, respite and end of life care.

“We believe that life doesn’t stop with a dementia diagnosis,” said care home manager Karen Byres.

“This award is a testament to our exceptional team, whose passion and commitment shine through every day.

“From Namaste Care to the latest dementia technology, everything we do is rooted in enabling our residents to live with purpose, dignity, and joy.

Claremont Court has earned numerous accolades for its care, including a Platinum accreditation with the Gold Standards Framework for end-of-life care, Dementia Care Award at the Great British Care Awards in 2023 and Nursing Home of the Year award at the Surrey Care Awards in 2024.

“It’s the most wonderful and caring home for residents with dementia,” said one person who has a parent living at Claremont Court.

“The manager and her team are the best you could possibly wish for! I am so very happy to have found this fabulous home for my mum—it’s a difficult condition to face, but here, there is real love and comfort.”

Another resident’s daughter added: “Every member of the team displays an almost limitless well of positivity, patience and perseverance.

“The positive atmosphere and excellent functioning of the home speak volumes about the incredible leadership and teamwork at Claremont.”

The home has interactive spaces such as a car simulator as well as an indoor beach and holds seasonal events like the annual summer festival Clarefest along with a ‘make a wish’ initiative to fulfil residents’ dreams and ambitions.

“At the heart of our success is a commitment to innovation and individualised care,” added Karen.

“From our Namaste Care sessions designed to stimulate all five senses, to using digital therapeutic tools to enhance emotional engagement, Claremont Court is transforming the way dementia care is delivered.

“I am so proud of the whole team for their hard work and dedication and we are delighted to have brought home the award at such a prestigious ceremony.”
