Dementia Nursing care delivered by expert, qualified nurses
What is dementia nursing care?
Within the homely surroundings of our Claremont Court nursing home in Guildford, we have a team of qualified and experienced nurses who provide a range of acute care around-the-clock, supported by a team of care assistants who provide a variety of personal care and support for our residents living with dementia.
Our loving and respectful nursing team, formed of skilled nurses who have a strong knowledge and understanding of the best clinical practices, is there to monitor vital statistics which reveal changes in someone’s condition, provide regular nursing interventions and administer certain types of medication.
Supporting our team members to provide exceptional care, we also have specific equipment such as profile beds and mattresses which aid comfort and independence, as well as various types of hoists and chairs which enable people to get out of bed and socialise with fellow residents in one of our beautiful shared spaces.
Many of our cherished residents have either moved into our dementia nursing care home in Guildford as a result of their previous care home being unable to meet their increasing needs or, following a hospital stay where they are then unable to continue living independently.
Seeing the whole person
We take the time to develop a detailed care plan with our residents and their loved ones to ensure we understand not only their care and support needs, but also what their likes and dislikes are, their interests, enabling us to tailor activities and trips to places of interest, life history and what they want to achieve with their life.
All of our residents, irrespective of the type of care they need, have access to the same range of beautiful home comforts and features such as our library, salon, activities, events and companionship.
Through this approach to care, and our detailed understanding of the whole person, we are able to tailor their care, experiences, meals, and the range of activities and events they have access to, to ensure their days are filled with choice, fulfilment and happiness.
For our residents at our dementia nursing home in Guildford who are nursed in bed, this includes still being able to enjoy a variety of homecooked meals and snacks, accessible hobbies and activities and socialising if they wish to.
Where family and friends are always welcome
Family and friends remain a vital part of many of our residents’ lives at our nursing home in Guildford and we welcome them with open arms at any time.
Whilst we’re there to take care of each resident, their loved ones are able to spend quality time with them, enjoying a meal together, chatting over a cuppa at our Pop Up Coffee Shop, taking part in an activity or simply catching up in one of our quiet areas or landscaped gardens.
We also understand at times, it can be difficult to see your loved one’s needs changing or the effect their health condition has on them. This is why we’re also always there for family and friends to have a chat over a cuppa, bring you up to speed on the exciting things your loved one has been involved with and provide general reassurance and guidance.
Our regular carer events are also the perfect time to receive professional advice on things such as funding care and understanding dementia. It is these elements which set us apart from other nursing care homes in Guildford, as we remain flexible to the needs of our residents as well as their friends and family.
A warm and welcoming home for life
We have carefully designed our nursing suite to ensure it is homely, welcoming and comfortable whilst supporting residents’ needs and helping to make their lives enjoyable, dignified and contented.
As we provide a range of care, including end of life care within our dementia nursing home in Guildford, we are able to continue caring for people even if their needs change over time.
