Santa and his reindeer bring festive cheer

Claremont Court was transformed into a winter wonderland when Santa and his reindeer made an early stop to meet residents.

Residents and their family members were able to pet and feed Prancer and Dancer before joining Father Christmas on his sleigh when the grounds were given a wintery makeover complete with artificial snow.

Residents were also treated to home-made hot chocolate to help them keep warm during the visit to our home in Harts Gardens which cares exclusively for people living with dementia.

Karen Byres, home manager at Claremont Court, which recently won the Team of the Year in the Surrey Care Association’s People Awards, said: “The day was a huge success, and everyone enjoyed meeting the reindeer and of course Father Christmas. The artificial snow gave the grounds a really Christmassy look and residents loved stroking Prancer and Dancer’s fur and feeding them some tasty treats which was a new experience for most of them.

The visit was part of the varied and stimulating programme of events at our home, which offers residential, nursing, respite and end-of-life care for which we have achieved Platinum status in the Gold Standards Framework.

“We encourage all our residents to try new things while engaging in activities that may stimulate happy memories of when they were younger,” continued Karen.

“I’d also like to thank the entire Claremont team for their support in making the day such a huge success through all their hard work. Our home’s mission is to provide ‘exceptional care, no exceptions’, added Karen, and the team works to ensure that the residents’ quality of life isn’t led by dementia.
